Hey yall! It’s been awhile since I’ve written a blog. Recently I have stayed really busy re-branding, working with clients, and updating my website. I love the new look of it!. Hope you do too! In honor of my new marketing and event planning business, I’m hosting a HUGE giveaway currently on my Instagram and Facebook featuring 9 of my favorite local Kentucky businesses! These are places I frequent regularly and truly enjoy. I am beyond grateful to every business for collaborating with me on this stellar giveaway! Give them a follow and let me know which ones you’ve tried in the comments below!
SPOTZ GELATO Where do I even start!? I have the biggest sweet tooth ever and Spotz is one of my favorite places to visit! Owners Beth and her husband Philip are a light in the community. Spotz is a Kentucky Proud business, meaning they are locally sourced. Everything is produced in small batches in the commercial kitchen they built on their family farm to ensure freshness. They also never use artificial additives or flavors! They literally have a milk man y’all! Spotz has 3 locations. One in Georgetown, Versailles, and in Downtown Lexington. Spotz is very active in the community and even hosts charity nights! They are constantly coming up with new, unique flavors like Sangria, Lucky in Kentucky (Lucky Charms), and Blueberry Cheesecake. My favorite flavor, however, is cookies and cream! If you are looking for a date night, event vendor, or kids outing, Spotz is the spot!
THE AMSDEN is by far the cutest coffee shop and mercantile ever! The Amsden is located in Versailles, Kentucky. The Amsden’s history is rich! “Originally the site of the Watkin’s Tavern which burned in 1886, the Amsden bank building was constructed in 1890 and is one of the oldest buildings in downtown Versailles. The building has been a variety of businesses since the closing of the bank in 1931.” Emily and her husband completely gave the building a makeover, yet kept its original historic charm! This is the perfect place to study and sip on some lavender iced tea lemonades! I also love their mochas! In the rest of the stunning historic building, you will find other local businesses including, Gathered Mercantile, The Yoga Room, Skin Boutique by Kaylan, and the Amsden Bourbon Bar. Let me know what your favorite drink is!
SISSY’S COOKS IT UP makes the most gourmet cookies! Owner and new momma Kyla really knows her stuff! I have tried ALOT of gourmet cookies, but they all were too thick, dry, or had no real flavor! Her cookies are the perfect texture and flavor! I use her for every personal and professional event. She even makes cookies with my logo on them for my client’s thank you gifts! Check her out and be sure to order cookies for your next celebration.
CYCLEBAR is by far the only gym membership I actually use and enjoy!! I was a little intimidated and nervous at first. However, the staff at the Fritz Farm location were so welcoming. Your first ride is FREE and they have promotions throughout the year on memberships. I have been riding over a year and a half and I LOVE it! Cyclebar is an interval driven indoor cycling studio. Basically you clip into the bikes and ride to the rhythm. The studio has state of the arc surround sound, and colored lighting, so you literally feel like you are at a party! I love it! The instructors are so motivating and push you to be the best version of yourself. I’ve seen an increase in my endurance and overall health. My favorite rides to go to are theme rides. For example: T-Pain vs. T-Swift (the songs are all T-Pain and T-Swift) I can’t wait to go back to classes soon. Check them out and tell them Sass sent cha!
BAKED BY QURESHI is a talented local baker! She creates the most elegant cake masterpieces! Owner and healthcare hero, Aqsa Qureshi, creates several flavors of cake and buttercream. Some of my favorites include, Oreo, Nutella, Vanilla, Lemon, Almond, Chocolate, White Chocolate Raspberry, and Peanut Butter! Aqsa has made several cakes for my friends, clients, and my birthday! Baked by Qureshi provides cupcakes and cake pops as well. I recently tried the cake pops and OMG I am craving them again! (My 25th birthday cake is the pink and gold one below!)
FRENCHIES NAIL SALON is the CLEANEST nail salon by far! Did you know that drills, jets, reusable metal tools, acrylics, and traditional nail salon chemicals are SO BAD FOR YOU! Well they are! The jets can never get fully cleaned, unless they are taken apart fully after each client. Frenchies Modern Nail Care is located in Lexington Green and is locally owned by Jennifer. From the moment you walk into the salon, you realize this is no ordinary salon! It smells amazing! After arriving you pick your oil that will be infused into your scrub and lotion. They have lavender, pomegranate, lemongrass, and eucalyptus. I usually do the lavender or lemongrass, but they all smell amazing. The salon is all white and blue, super trendy and modern. Frenchies won Best Nail Salon in Lexington for the Readers Choice awards and it is clear why. They are SO MANY COLORS to pick from. The nail tech uses a new sanitary tool kit, which you can take home as well. All of the staff are professional and helpful. Frenchies offers a great retail section too! I love getting the Deluxe Pedicure. So relaxing!
LA PETITE DELICAT takes me back to France with just one bite! This locally owned business sits on National Ave. in Lexington, KY. La Peitie Delicat serves gourmet coffees, teas, pastries, and their famous authentic French Macarons! They have a gorgeous case filled with every flavor, then some! My go to flavors are Cookies and Cream, Espresso, Vanilla, Strawberry, Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel, and Pistachio. If you are reading this and you do not live in Lexington, you can get them shipped fresh to you! I mailed some back to my mom and little sisters in Iowa and they were perfect! The overall atmosphere of this cafe is so Instagram worthy! La Petite Delicat hosts several events in their upstairs venue. They also offer Macaron making classes. I defiantly want to take one soon! Who’s joining me!?
CONNOR QUERY ART is truly a one of a kind local artist! This girl can do it all! She specializes in watercolor, wood burning, pet paintings, chalk art, murals, graphic design and custom commissions! I received a wood ornament from a local blogger event and it is one of my favorite art pieces in my apartment. Connor works with several local businesses including breweries to help design their can artwork. She also teaches wood burning classes. Her pieces bring joy to so many people and they make a great gift!
ALL THAT IS LOVELY has taken my hair from drab to fab! Owner Lauren Prather is a hair goddess! She has taken my extremely dark hair and safely made it the most gorgeous, golden blonde. Lauren’s salon is in Versailles, Kentucky, located right above Spotz Gelato! Lauren does intricate wedding hair and WOW! I am blown away by some of the brides I’ve seen. Let me get real with y’all real quick, I caved during this whole quarantine thing and let my neighbor cut my hair. Well lets just say she chopped it WAY WAY too short and uneven. (Whoops!) So, I’m letting it grow a few months, then my girl Lauren is going to work her magic. I already have an appointment scheduled. Lauren also offers retail and extension services! She is the sweetest soul and her salon is so cute and cozy! The updo below was what I wore to the Woodford Humane Society Gala and I got so many compliments on it!
